First of all, elementor is discouraged on free hosting.

I suspect that the wordpress pretty permalink was not correctly set up. Could you please check the .htaccess file inside your htdocs?

sorry wrong ss

what do I do to this? do I change it ?

Could you please check Settings > Permalinks in your wp-admin?

The image you shared is the .htaccess in the root folder, you have to check the htdocs folder.

What do I do in the htaccess root folder and also in the permalinks? its set to sample post should i change naything else?

Could you please provide some screenshots?

That file’s protected, you can do nothing with it. Didn’t you see the big notice in that file?

A lot of options have sample post in it, but it’s fine.

I still suspect the htdocs/.htaccess file. It can be there or not — if it isn’t there, then your custom 404 elementor page isn’t likely to work.

Most CMS and more complicated sites simply reroute all URLs that don’t match to a file to the PHP code, so they can handle pretty URLs from there. This means that the error pages configured through .htaccess don’t have any effect, and any 404 page should be handled by your software. But that also means that you should never be redirected to our 404 page.

And when I try to go to a non-existent URL, like http://quartztag.com/asdfasdfasf, I do get see a custom “Page not found” page. So it seems like everything is working?
