I am a newbie and I have applied for InfinityFree hosting today.

Question

Why does it take 24 hours to add CNAME Records?

Other Information

I have applied for the free ssl for my custom domain. But even after adding CNAME Records, it says that “Adding a CNAME Record may take upto 24 hours.” But why? What is the reason for this timespan? I have tried GoDaddy DNS management and there, the records were added immediately. But why so much time is required here?

Hello there,

It does not take 24 hours for your CNAME records to be added, it will be created almost immediately once you create them but it does take up to 24 hours for the CNAME records to fully propagate worldwide.

This is pretty much how DNS works.
