Error Message

Website port 111 open for RPCbind.

Other Information

While doing a nmap scan of website, we found that some ports like 111 are open and vulnerable. Is it possible to have only ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS) open on our website?

Nope, sorry. On free hosting, only ports 443 and 80 are open. Im not sure if you can open other ports on premium, but my guess is you can’t, which would mean that you’d need a VPS to open custom ports.

Considering that post 111 is used for TCP communication, closing it would just cause problems.

A portscan does indeed show that port 111 is open. But a port being open does not necessarily mean that it’s vulnerable. It doesn’t mean it’s open for the service that runs on the port by default, or that no other measures have been implemented to manage access to it.

Please rest assured that we take care of the security of our servers. Just because something may seem unusual to you does not mean it’s wrong.
