Has anyone discovered any useful patterns relavent to free tier hosting? I’m working on this project (portfolio, not licensed under free open source; provided primarily for code review purposes):
URL removed by MOD because it's advertising and to protect the OP (even if he doesn't use this hosting) because the projects there are easy targets for hacking
I’ve discovered:
JavaScript loop for agent functionality (requires a client).
POST with return URL for pseudo web services functionality.
DevOps type functionality, with version control and deployment.
Differential database deployment scripting and deployment.
Production to development data synchronization.
Working on location based searching (who’s posting what near a location).
Also, Samsung DeX is useful if you are multitasking on mobile apps while developing.
@Oxy How is it an easy target for hacking? Can you explain the exploit, so I’m able to fix it, rather than remove the link from the post? Or tell me what I need to fix, and then I can fix it and you can add the link back?
First of all, do not swear or accuse here. You are violating our community guidelines.
Second of all, apologies for the GitHub code mixup. Based on the code on your website, you still carry vulnerabilities. I may have mixed up the GitHub thing, but point is more/less the same.
Swearing & accusing with new account = automatic post removal by flag.
Without analysing the code (I didn’t see the link, so I can’t say specifically), no we can’t. And ultimately this is a the inifinity free community forum, dedicated to web hosting, not to code support.
The main reason for the edit though is because the forum doesn’t support advertising of personal projects, and Oxy considered your link advertising your personal project.
I appreciate that this isn’t the answer you were hoping for.
Based on your previous posts, it’s clear that you’ve already moved away from InfinityFree to a different hosting provider on the same platform. You’ve even asked here about phpMyAdmin issues you’re having with that other provider, which confirms you’re no longer our customer. This tells me the issue isn’t with the underlying service, you simply dislike and distrust InfinityFree specifically. Given your previous experience here, I can understand why you made that decision.
What surprises me is that you’ve returned to discuss your project again. Last time you shared something similar, you clearly didn’t get the response you were hoping for. I’m not sure why you expected this time would be different.
There are plenty of online communities focused on software development where you can discuss these topics. Your current hosting provider may have their own forum, and there are countless generic development forums and social media communities dedicated to these subjects. Many of them will be more receptive to project showcasing and will have cultures that better align with what you’re looking for.
I think it’s best we end this discussion here. I’d encourage you to find a more suitable community elsewhere, one where you can engage in the way you prefer. And if you need help with your current hosting provider, please use their support channels instead of ours.
I wish you best of luck with your current and future projects.
Just popped in to see if someone had some time to do some more security testing. Ouch. Basically different branding of the same offering. The other forum isn’t as active, though I like the user interface better (at the least, more aesthetic). I wasn’t seeking approval, nor acceptance. I was just saying, hey, here’s how I worked around some of the limitations I’ve discovered with free hosting (though, if software every turns profitable, I do plan to upgrade). It seems like people are super aggressive, like attacking/removing the content, which is fine. I just thought it may help maybe a user two, be like, oh, that actually helps in my project.
Your responses, I mostly respect. You seem dedicated in ensuring a good experience, and I appreciate you helping me through some of the PHP pecularities early on. I think it’s unfortunate that you are asking I leave the community, but you seem like a well put together, reasonably thought out, and diligent person, so I plan to respect your wishes. My account was suspended (though quickly restored), and I began taking backups incase my work was impeded again, which was part of my reason for returning to the forum just now (to make sure I was putting my best forth effort in in creating value best in line with the community, if I was going to be relying on the services, even as a backup plan), but, seems my presence is not perceived as beneficial (or even worse than that). It’s good, though.
If you have any suggestions on other alternative media, let me know.
Enjoy your (morning?). Also, saw the Netherlends put money in the game for Ukraine. I found that interesting.
