The page says only one of the 2 verification methods is required. I did the DNS record one. And it is now asking me to do the nameserver one and wont let me proceed without doing it.
The error message is wrong. I’m sorry about that and will look into getting that fixed.
Please note that the DNS checks you see on the page are done by the client area, whereas the hosting platform itself also check your domain’s DNS when adding the domain. If the hosting platform cannot validate your domain name (either through the nameservers or through the CNAME records), you will see this error.
Judging by the client area checks, it looks like your domain name is setup correctly, so this is probably just DNS cache. Please try again later (a few hours should be enough) and it should work.
If you are still unable to view your website on the new domain after a few hours, I recommend flushing your local DNS cache.
That won’t help the issue, as the DNS cache is on the hosting panel side, not the local computer side.
The only solution here is to wait.
This is assuming server-side caching has done it’s job. I have experienced this countless times, where everything server-side is good to go, yet my device would not get the new data unless I flushed my dns or did the basic thing and clear my browser cache.
They could try adjusting the TTL if that is an option, though.
I don’t think you have read the OPs post. The OP is not having an issue with their device, but rather with the control panel. OP does not have access to the control panels servers, the solution is to wait for DNS propagation.
Also, adjusting TTL won’t speed anything up as that only takes effect after the record has been seen.
I read the OP’s post and the admin’s suggestion to wait several hours, I added a further recommendation. This recommendation provided an alternative troubleshooting step for the OP if they were still experiencing issues after the propagation period.
The problem is that your alternative troubleshooting step doesn’t work.
The problem here is not that OP themselves are unable to access their website, the problem is that they are unable to add the domain to their account because of a DNS validation error from the hosting platform.
Flushing DNS cache can indeed help with DNS cache issues. But you can only clear your own DNS cache, which affects your own ability to resolve the domain.
But to fix this particular DNS cache issue, the cache of the DNS resolvers of the hosting platform would need to be flushed. And that’s not something you can do yourself.
I am completely aware of the difference between the two. That is why I clearly stated above that the recommendation given is in regards to AFTER the server-side of things have been completed and IF the OP was still having issues, they could try my recommendation. As I have had that happen to me a few times.
In the situation that I am implying, my troubleshooting step could very well work. I’m not sure how much clearer I could be.
I completely agree, the solution you proposed can be quite effective for the problem you presented.
But the problem you presented has little to do with the original question. After all, if you ask a question and someone presents a solution, wouldn’t you expect that the solution should actually help you with the problem you have? Because your proposed solution will not to that.
You provided a solution. I provided another step to take for an additional, potential issue that could very well arise.
I’m just repeating myself at this point.
I presented a solution to a potential problem that could very well relate to the original question if after propagation, they still could not view their site.
As that has happened to me many times, and I have used that solution many times with the related problem in hand for past clients.
I understand where you’re coming from. And I do agree with you that you were referring to the next possible issue op could have faced.
However, you do need to be careful not to cause confusion. In my experience with online forums it’s generally best to deal with the problem at hand and then IF the next issue shows up, deal with that. Otherwise people start getting confused.
Closed as OP has marked the topic solved and this is getting off-topic
