Site was not updated for more than a year, but it stopped working. Also, when I go into WordPress main page, I can not edit old or create new pages with Elementor.
What could be the reason that the site no longer works?

It seems like something well and truly broke with your site. I would suggest first installing all pending updates and see if that solves the issue. If not, maybe try disabling Elementor and see if that can help you fix your site.
In any case, it’s an issue in your website. There is not a lot we can actually do for you here.
Thank you, updating WordPress and Elementor helped. It seems that the problem was connectivity to MySQL, which stopped working for old versions.
