Migration from InfinityFree to Hostinger

Hi everyone!
I’m trying to migrate my hosting plan from InfinityFree to Hostinger but I’ve an issue.
Seems like when Hostinger try to download a backup, InfinityFree close the connection.
This is the message I received from Hostinger:
“We were unable to download a backup of your website from your previous hosting provider, since their web server kept closing the connection shortly after starting the download. Please get in touch with them to see how we could download a backup of your website from their servers (click on the “All-in-One WP Migration” > “Backups” menu in your WordPress dashboard to see the backups). Once the issue has been resolved, please open a new migration request through the control panel of your Hostinger account.”
With the free plan seems like it’s not possible to have support, so I ask here. How can I do?
Thanks in advise to those who’ll help

I don’t believe that’s possible to do directly.
I’m afraid you’ll have to download the backup to your PC and restore it to your new provider.

UPDATE: Were they using your FTP credentials? If they were it’s like if you were doing it yourself so it must be another problem.

I am going to guess that this is blocking hostinger from assessing your files.

Yes, I wrote them my FTP credentials for the migration

I know that FTP connection has a short timeout.
But the connection ends only if you’re not transferring files.
As long as the files are in transit, it should keep the connection running.

It’s probably better to wait for an admin’s answer.

The alternative is, if you’re able to because the connection might also break with you, download the backup yourself and send it to them.

Do not use plugins! Most likely it will not work due to 10 mb file and cron job limitation etc. You have to do it the old fashion way.

If Hostinger’s automatic migration tool doesn’t work, perhaps you should ask Hostinger about that?

Our FTP servers are working fine for the purposes they are designed for. If Hostinger does something weird to backup all the files over FTP and it doesn’t work well, that’s both Hostinger’s fault and Hostinger’s problem. Why would we need to make changes to our FTP server to fix an issue created by a competitor?

I tried many times to download a backup both with external plugins and directly from my File Manager tool but it doesn’t seems to work so no, it’s not your competitor’s problem but yours.

Use ftp… :man_facepalming: :woman_facepalming:

No, that’s not our problem or Hostinger’s problem, that’s your problem. We have a recommended way to make backups. Please follow it instead of coming up with your own way and blaming us for it not working:
