Installed Image Gallery Piwigo but it also deleted old Piwigo

I guess there will not be any undo function.

But I had Piwigo installed manually and it was not working anymore. But i did have some pictures uploaded.

Now after the install of the Image Gallery Piwigo of course they seem to be gone. Do you think that will be forever? Didn’t make back-up of course. Sorry if this is not the right place to ask this or if my Englisch may be a bit bad.

There is indeed no undo button. But that doesn’t necessary mean that the files are actually lost.

It’s hard to say if the files are irrecoverable if we don’t know what you did exactly to the original installation.

The first thing I would do is to go into the file manager, find your website folder and then check the galleries folder. Do you still see your old photos there? If so, then you can just login to the Piwigo interface and to to Tools → Synchronize, and run the synchronization job to import your existing files.

If the files are not there, then it’s either possible that they are in a different location (which means you can still recover them), or that they were deleted.

Can you check the galleries folder first? And if the photos aren’t there and you still need help, please tell us a bit more about what exact steps you took to go from your previously working Piwigo installation to your current situation.

Thank tou for your help!

It seems that they are all gone.

I first installed Piwigo manually by putting the files with a FTP client.

Now I installed Piwigo via the client area.

If I look in the file manager I don’t see any pictures anywhere. So I guess they are gone.

Neither of those things automatically deletes your files.

But Softaculous will refuse to install software if it sees that another site already exist in the same location. Did you see that warning too? And do you remember what you did when that happened?
