What I’m seeing is: Fatal error: $CFG->dataroot is not configured properly, directory does not exist or is not accessible! Exiting.
**I’m using this software:**Moodle 2.0
Additional information:
I searched the Knowledge base using "moodle" and find 9 entries, all quite similar, but find little help. The Softaculous default installation of Moodle 2.0 does not function. It appears that InfinityFree hosting cannot support Moodle because of Moodle's data folder requirement. My question is simply this: "Is it possible to install Moodle 2.0 on the free hosting service?" I don't want to spend time trying to do what is, by design, not possible. Thanks for your help.
Thank you OxyDac, I also read your response to a message at the Knowledge Base to the same effect. If possible I’d like to get something other than ‘maybe’ this is the problem. I don’t want to spend hours working at it if a tech at Infinity Free can simply tell me: “It is not possible to install Moodle on an InfinityFree free-hosted website.” That’s why I phrased my question as I did. I appreciate your input, though - thanks again.
sorry for a short answer before
(the company byet/ifastnet is a infinityfree partner - that’s why I gave that link)
Scripts can only write to the htdocs directories they are in. Any directories outside the htdocs dir cannot be written - due to the open_basedir restriction
