Free Hosting tactics of InfinityFree:
“Buy us a premium plan so we don’t put your website down when we want.”
@SiteMint I think you are being very unfair
All hosting servers have limitations both free and paid
Infinityfree is free hosting
so you can’t expect the same server power as paid hosting but I think that what is offered by them is amazing
Please note that Infinityfree does not provide any paid hosting plans, paid plans are provided by Ifastnet which Infinityfree is kind enough to advertise/suggest in case you need a more powerful server
After they suspended my website and unblock so I can use it is COMPLETELY slow.
Please post your website URL so we can check for issues
Thanks
I checked your account, and I see it was suspended for hitting the CPU limit.
All hosting has CPU limits. The infinite speed processor does not exist, so it is physically impossible to provide unlimited CPU power. And despite processors not being infinitely fast, they are very expensive, which is why we can’t give you a very large amount of processing power for free.
Upgrading to premium hosting gives you more processing power. That doesn’t mean you’re required to upgrade. However, you should take some kind of action, because your website is now too demanding for free hosting. And roughly speaking, you can either try to reduce your website’s CPU usage, or get more CPU power. We recommend our premium hosting if you want more CPU power, but it’s completely your decision.
If your website is slow too, that could indicate that there is something wrong with your website where it does too much (or just does it poorly), taking a lot of processing time to run. That results in both a slow website and high CPU usage. Faster hosting, like you get with premium hosting, also helps solve that.
Please understand that between is “we can take your website down whenever we want” and “you can host whatever you want with us with no limitations” there is a very big gap. And somewhere in the middle of those two extremes are fair usage limits that are applied to all accounts equally, and your website has exceeded.
You can say whatever you want to justify InfinityFree shitty sales tactics, you can say even just to upload a picture is hitting the CPU limits because that was I did, and my web site it’s been suspended all the time. You want to show people that you are good because you offer free plans, but you extort people’s websites to try they buy your premium plans. IS THE MOST SHITTY SALES TECHNIQUE I’VE EVER SEEN!
Not really? It’s always your choice if you want to upgrade, and you can always choose a different hosting provider if you want, you’re not stuck with iFN.
Also, unless you are abusing FTP to a decent extent, you’re not going to hit the CPU limit from that. I’ve uploaded hundreds of files in the same FTP session on a free account and have not hit the limit.
@SiteMint you are confusing things
Infinityfree offers free hosting (no cost to you)
Ifastnet offers paid hosting
These are two different companies
Infinityfree has nothing to gain from you switching to premium, they are not making any money from this as they do not offer any paid hosting
If you think that we offer a scam service because we only provide a small hosting account for free, not a big account for free, then you’re entitled to that opinion. However, I do hope you can understand that while our hosting is free to you, it’s not free to us, so expecting enterprise level hosting for free is just not realistic.
And if you believe that you are at any point required to purchase paid hosting with us or with iFastNet, that’s 100% false, and you’re accusing us of things which are entirely your own imagination.
As I stated here and in reply to your TrustPilot review, upgrading to premium hosting is simply one of the options you have. You can also try to optimize your site to reduce the usage on free hosting or move your website to a different hosting provider.
We get kickbacks, and the rest of the profit goes to iFastNet, who pay for the majority of the free hosting costs. And they have made it clear that they need a healthy upgrade percentage to be able to continue the service. So there is definitely an incentive to upgrade.
But having an incentive is not the same as lying, extorting and cheating people to upgrade.
