I had this site working perfectly. Entering the URL: “https://wb.cameron.free.nf/HRRC/” opened up the site just as expected (by accessing the “index.html” file in it.
I have just moved all the files in it to a new folder and placed a new index.html file in the HRRC folder but now entering “https://wb.cameron.free.nf/HRRC/” gets an Error 404!!!
If I enter “https://wb.cameron.free.nf/HRRC/index.html” then the new site opens OK but I shouldn’t have to add the “index.html” to the path for it to open, should I?
Can anyone explain why my new index.html is not being found, please?
I can see the website in both ways on my side, without any errors whatsoever.
Please clear the browser cache by pressing a few times Ctrl + F5 while viewing your website.
If that doesn’t help (because some browsers are stubborn) then follow these instructions:
Yup! I tried all that several times but to no avail!
However, if it’s working for you then the problem must just be here.
I will try restarting the PC completely (after another attempt to clear all the cookies) and see if that works.
Grrrrrr!
Dammit!
I hit Ctrl + F5 several times, went into Settings and cleared Browsing Data & Cookies then did: “ipconfig /flushdns & netsh winsock reset” before restarting the PC but Chrome still insists on giving me Error 404 unless I add “index.html” to the end of the path!!!
The site opens fine on my mobile AND in Edge and Opera browsers! (Without the addition of “index.html” to the end of the path!)
Anybody know a surefire way to get Chrome to behave itself (without reinstalling, lol)
