I was trying to pen test my site and suddenly it blocked my Ip. When i tried it from a VPN i was able to access the website but it blocked me .Did I do something wrong ? I was just pen testing my site so that someone else cannot find the bugs in my site which i found while pen testing .So please if anyone can unblock my IP please unblock it so that i can at least access my site and do development on it and fix the bugs.
Other Information
I think that while pen testing it i might have pinged it multiple times or have sent a lot of data to it from my ip. Please if anyone can help me
InfinityFree does not block IP addresses at the server level, so either your own system blocked it, or it’s not a block at all.
Also, don’t do anything that could be considered malicious to the servers, or your account will be permanently banned. Remember that you don’t own the server, and share it with thousands of other websites, be respectful.
You don’t, at least not once it’s live on a hosting platform. When done properly, pen testing looks no different to the server’s security system than a real cyber attack. If you own your own computer that you can run a web server on, you can test run your site on that and do a pen test on it. That would be okay.
But never ever try a pen test on somebody else’s server without permission, including that of a shared web hosting service like InfinityFree. Each individual server may be used by hundreds, if not thousands of other customers besides yourself. That’s grounds for termination on any shared hosting provider.
Please have patience. This is a forum, not a live chat system or instant messaging platform. Spamming is against the rules.
I am deeply sorry and regret my decisions and promise that i wont do it again .I didn’t knew that their was a thing like that if i had known earlier i wouldn’t have done it in the first place but i didn’t knew about it so i tried to find bugs in my site .If their is any way i can access my site back please let me know .I am also not able to access it on my other devices connected to my internet .I am not trying to spam i am just trying to find a solution to my problem .Again I am very sorry that i attempted to pen test my site . I didn’t knew that more than one sites run on a server .Please help me.
I’ve been told there are filters that can temporarily block IPs that are found to be malicious. Like those that commit cyber attacks.
So it sounds like everything is working as intended.
Keep that in mind next time you attack someone else’s server without their consent. And that your website is hosted on that server doesn’t mean it’s your server to do with as you please.
What you have done is a criminal offense. We will not take further action on this, but we cannot just forgive and forget either.
Could there be a ToS update reflecting upon Penetration Testing, and other Cyber-Attacks, and how it’s prohibited and that it could lead to termination?
For users of the Service that read the ToS, they would be further informed of what they could and couldn’t do with the Services.
