I have a security copy of a website I used to have, it’s in my PC in a folder on a .zif file. I most certainly believe I did it with Jetpack. Then I had to erase the web. Now in this new domain an hosting I can’t seem to be able to upload that security copy (as every time y try to install jetpack it says “an error had occurred, please try again”
Thank you so much. I’m argentinian and a newie on websites. I had hostinger and designed my web in Wp, but then I couldn’t afford the hosting so I came here. I downloaded a security copy on .zip and there the majority of files are php. That means it’s the second case, right? sorry 4 the english XD
Please make sure that you don’t just have a backup of your website files, but also the database. Just downloading the website files does not include your database, but a database is much more important to restore a website.
You can usually tell by the backup that’s created. If it says Full Account Backup, there should be a database backup. If it says it’s a file backup, it’s just files.
You can also have a look in the backup itself and see if there is any file with a .sql extension (or maybe .sql.gz extension) in there. That’s usually a database backup.
that’s the only files ive got. I’ll have to redesign my web from stratch right?
Could you tell me if I can recover my blog’s articles? how could i do that?
thak u so much
Do you still have access to your account at Hostinger? If so, you can try exporting your database there anyway.
If the account at Hostinger has been erased already and you don’t have the backup, then it’s basically impossible to recover your website. The database contains all posts, pages and settings, so without the database, that’s all lost.
