I am unable to get ssl status live on my sub domain. I have tried installing the certificate multiple times, but it isn’t working. Also how to verify txt record that netlify is showing on this sub domain?
@moderators can you please delete the screenshot?
of course - as soon as the admin sees it (he’s here right now so it won’t take long)
The reason the “Live SSL Status” says that your subdomain doesn’t have a valid SSL certificate is because it doesn’t have a valid SSL certificate.
And the reason the certificate you installed on our hosting is not taking effect on that subdomain is because we are not hosting that subdomain.
Your subdomain is pointing to Netlify. That means that for SSL to work on your subdomain, you must have SSL setup at Netlify.
Setting up SSL on our end is a waste of time, because it has no effect on a website that’s not hosted with us. For the same reason, there is also no need to add it to your hosting account as a Subdomain, you only need that if you actually want to host the subdomain with us.
I recommend you remove the subdomain from our panel if you don’t intend to host it with us. I cannot guarantee that we’ll never “fix” the DNS records on our end to point your subdomain to our servers, removing the connection to Netlify.
Custom TXT records are not supported in our nameservers. Instead, you can use other nameservers instead, either from your domain name provider, or from a specialized provider like Cloudflare. You can point your domain or any subdomain you want to host with us to the website IP on our hosting:
But my hosting website says that because domain is hosted here, sub domain has to be created through dns records here.
I am unable to change nameservers for only sub domain in my domain name provider’s website and i am unable to do that here as well. Please guide me.
The DNS records for Netlify have to be setup in the nameservers of your domain name. Those were our nameservers, so Netlify pointed you in our direction. However, now it turns out that Netlify requires some records that we don’t offer.
Deleting a subdomain to different nameservers is technically possible. However, that’s not done through your domain name provider, it can only be done through the nameservers of your base domain. But we don’t provide the option to do that either, so that’s not going to work.
Your best bet is to move your domain name away from our nameservers and to other nameservers where you have full DNS controls. From there, you can send your base domain to Website IP of your account, and send the subdomain to Netlify with all the required records.
