How to separate a sub-domain into another account

I created a domain name for a relative (with Active Domain) then added it to my InfinityFree account. What I want to do is to remove it from MY account and create a new account, so he can manage it himself.
Is this possible ? Will it be complicated ?

Delete the domain from your account and backup the files. Create a new account on their profile and add the domain and files there.

OK, but what are the steps that I should take from A to Z ?
I registered the domain name with ActiveDomain because that’s where mine came from (apparently it would’ve been cheaper at InfinityFree but I didn’t know that at the time !).

You can register domain names on IF, so I’m not sure what you mean by your second point.

And you don’t need to involve your domain registrar at all.

Just delete the domain from your account
Make a backup of your account (files and DB)
Have your relative create a new hosting account with the domain name
Import the backup to the relatives new hosting account

…and sometimes the advice we’re given doesn’t fix the issue !

so the domain name was registered elsewhere, and I associated it with my InfinityFree account, and now I can’t disassociate that domain and my account.
I also can’t create a new account for my relative with InfinityFree - as apparently your cookie policy means that whatever navigateur I use I always end up in my original account, even when I denied all cookies !

Why not? What happens when you try to delete it from the original account?

Have you tried making this new account in a different browser? Or at least logging out of your own account first? Though ideally, you should have your relative create the account themselves on their own computer/device and browser to avoid any issues.

yeah, I’ve tried in Safari and Chrome on my Macbook pro. I denied all cookies - but they still know it’s me ! I’m happy with my account, but I wanted to create an account for my son-in-law

What exactly do you mean by this? Does it automatically log you in, or does it not let you create a new account?

it automatically logs me in

finally sorted it out. Chrome was causing the problems (dozens of errors visible in the developer tools console) - I switched to Safari and all is good !
