I would like to set up a hit counter on my web pages but when I do it works when I am checking it on my computer but when I upload the HTML file to my site it is no longer present and will not work.
The interesting thing is when I first started using Infinity FREE for my web hosting it worked and then one day a while ago I noticed it was no longer working.
I get the counter off of the internet and try to use ones which do not report back to the originator.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Frank
Tried this, It is nice but does not show up when I upload the edited INDEX.HTML to the infinity servers. It works fine when I test it through my browser but not after it is uploaded and again, I had a counter but it stopped working a while ago so I tried several to replace it and none have worked.
Thanks
Hit counters are quite simple and there are plenty of ways to implement it.
I do wonder how yours works though. You say you upload it as index.html, but any hit counter will need a server component where the hits are counted centrally. This is quite easy to do with PHP, but you could also use an external counter server.
Flagcounter seems of the latter category, where it uses an external server to count the hits. Flagcounter itself is super simple to implement, so I don’t see why it would work locally and not here.
Could you share a link to your website where the counter should be visible?
I have tried several web counters which use external servers for counting in fact I think I have 2 installed in the INDEX file now on the first page of the web site at the bottom of the page.
I only see a username and a link to our client area where that account can be managed. But an account can have many domains, a domain can have many sites and a site can have many pages.
So again: can you please share a link to the page where the counter should be visible.
The counter should be at the bottom of the page and I think the last time I uploaded this index file I had inserted 2 counters but obviously neither work.
It looked OK to me too. But some ad/tracking alerts did fire on the counters. Are you using an ad blocker of some kind? Because if so, that ad blocker is blocking the hits counter.
