I have an old website with W3 schools which automatically redirects traffic to this website. The number of hits on the old website is always vastly greater than the number of hits on this website. How can this be?
I don’t know how W3schools does this, but they were recording most around 20 visitors a day. Your hits counter was incredibly low, often recording no daily hits at all. However, after I posted to this forum, my site received an enormous spike in the number of hits, resulting in my account being suspended. This is very strange.
The only explanation I can think of is a DoS attack, but who would bother attacking my website?
There have been indications that there are people who hate us (InfinityFree) and will take it out on any site that’s shared here. I know, it’s petty, but it’s much easier to take down a free hosting site than the optimized and secured servers we use for our management systems.
Another explanation is that sharing the URL here puts it on the radar of search engine crawlers (as this is a fairly popular and frequently crawled forum), which then will start crawling your site too.
I suspect you set up an account for a business. I don’t have a business I’m setting up the account for myself. Every time I try and do this Google demands a phone number so they can send a text.
