Google Safe Browsing flags my new barbershop website as unsafe

Error Message

Hello, I recently uploaded my Brutus Barbershop appointment management website to brutus-barbershop.42web.io. Google Safe Browsing currently reports: “This site is unsafe” and says it may contain pages that trick visitors into sharing personal information or downloading software.

The hosting account is active, and the site files are in /htdocs. I’m not sure whether this is a false positive, an issue with my website files, or something related to the hosting environment. Could someone advise me on how to investigate and resolve the warning?

I can provide screenshots or other details if needed. I will not include passwords or other credentials.

Other Information

Here’s an additional details message you can add:

The website is a PHP and MySQL barbershop appointment system hosted on InfinityFree. It includes customer registration and login, appointment booking, and a staff dashboard. I uploaded the project files to /htdocs and imported the database through phpMyAdmin. Google Safe Browsing flags the domain before visitors can safely use the site. I have not intentionally added downloads or content that asks visitors for unrelated personal information. Could you help identify what might be triggering the warning and advise what steps to take?

Welcome to the InfinityFree community forum! Good to have you here.

  • Most people answering here are volunteers. They’re often the fastest source of help. Admin (the only staff member) checks in about once a day for issues on our end.
  • Volunteers can’t see your account or website. Share what you actually see, like error messages and what happens when you try something. That’s more useful than your theory of what’s wrong.
  • AI tools often get InfinityFree wrong. If a volunteer’s advice differs from what an AI told you, please try the volunteer’s suggestion first.
  • Solving an issue is a joint effort. Try the suggestions you get and report back what happened.

Beep boop, I’m a bot! I dug through the forum to get you started. I sometimes get things wrong though, so do with this what you will until a human has a look.

Google decides this listing, not the hosting account, and only Google can remove it. We can’t clear it for you. I found an article that covers what the warning means, how to check what was flagged and how to get it reviewed:

The article says these listings come from automated scanners that judge what a site looks like, not what you meant by it. Your site is brand new, and the article says new sites with little history are judged more strictly. It also says the most common false positive is a site where the first thing visitors see is a login or registration form with nothing to explain who runs it. Your site has customer login and registration, so that could apply. It’s also worth checking that nothing on the site copies another brand’s name, logo or login page.

If your index.php opens straight onto a login form, the article suggests this:

  • Put a public homepage in front of it. Say what the barbershop is, and add contact details and a privacy policy.
  • Check your Security Issues report in Google Search Console. The article links to the Safe Browsing status page and explains how to set up Search Console.
  • Once that’s fixed, request a review once and describe what the site is for.

Two questions would help me narrow this down. What does the warning say word for word, for example “Deceptive site ahead” or a malware warning? And what does a visitor see first when they open index.php?

You can report it to Google as a false positive.
