FTP file transfer list incomplete on remote server, doesn't update new transfers

Other Information

using alternately FileZilla and Total Commander for FTP

At first I was able to upload all my website files with Total Commander, which I have been using for many years.
Then, with both Total Commander and FileZilla, I saw only a small number of the files and directories that are on my site, that I know are there since I can see them when I use a browser (Firefox) to see the site. They don’t appear on the FTP program in the remote directory, just a partial list of what is there.
At the bottom of the file list appears: DO NOT UPLOAD FILES HERE.
I tried debugging with FileZilla, yet it didn’t work exactly as per the instructions on the forum. There was no option for “save”.
At present there is one page of my site which shows only a 404 Error, which I want to correct.
So after many hours of trial and error I am stuck, and cry out “HELP!!!”
Thanks for your kindness, which comes across in the replies I read.

Make sure to upload files to the correct directory.
This is not the right path

If they are visible, you probably uploaded them to the right path. But that doesn’t mean you can login to the FTP server and immediately see all files in your account. You need to navigate to the directory that contains the files to see the files.

Thank you for kindly replying.
How to I get into the proper directory?
I seem to be stuck in the directory that has “DO NOT UPLOAD FILES HERE” and it seems to be the root directory itself. I cannot get to the directory that has all the files of the website.

Either double click on htdocs to go to it or, if it isn’t that, it should be on your domain name’s folder, then on htdocs.

htdocs works!!! Thanks dear friend!

htdocs folder works both with Total Commander and FileZilla.
Now I upload a file with it, yet trying to see it with the browser I get " 404 Not Found #### The page you were looking for could not be found!"
So that’s the issue now to be resolved.

There are files I upload and see on the browser, so what remains to be seen is why certain files can’t be seen… I continue to investigate

it could be because some file types are not allowed
or it could be that some files are larger than allowed
