Just a bit curious about FTP at here. I was trying to transfer some files (about 40MB) to my sites through FTP, when I get a line in the log that said, “2xx-- Your bandwidth limit is restricted.” (I don’t quite remember it.) It then tranfered my files as usual, but slower (only about 60-70 KBps.)
My question is, is there really a bandwidth cap on the FTP? I saw on my cPanel and it says “Unlimited”.
Unlimited is really just 9999987MB. However, technically only 10GB of storage and 100GB of access is available per customer. Also, you have a daily view limit of 40,000.
No, this is not unlimited. Resellers such as InfinityFree can only allow their customers to use 10GB storage and 100GB monthly transfer. Along with the 40,000 view limit across your websites.
You can update to xvhost for less limits, however it’s going to cost you.

Unlimited means Unlimited in certain manner. Unlimited means unlimited while you are ot overusing the resources and not keeping insane amounts of files on InfinityFree.
Ask yourself if there REALLY is something Unlimited in our universe other than the universe itself. No there isn’t.
Unlimited is a marketing word. How do you imagine us offering fully Unlimited hosting where you could store 10000000TB of files. That would be sick right, wouldn’t it be?
If we were able to provide hosting where you can store unlimited amount of files and unlimited bandwith we wouldn’t be offering hosting solutions cause we’d were already working on bigger project in this case unlimited file storage data drive.
Like I said it is physically imposibble to create this kind of technology.
But honestly I can say that in most of cases as long as your website is not very popular you will not be ever affected by these limitations.
10GB in reality is big storage for a website. As long as you are not hosting a big community where people upload files all the time which would count as File sharing/hosting which is against our terms of service, you should not be having problems with storage size.
Heck, even some websites that I have set up for some businesses by using WordPress which have galleries, contact info and even articles they ONLY use around 200 MB. So now do the math.
You would need to move to xvhost and if you exceed their fair usage then you would be looking into a VPS for about $20-50 per month or a dedicated server for around $200. Most major websites like google and reedit have custom built servers that they fully own which cost them around $20,000 each. Rather expensive if you grow, but it’s unlikely to be any time soon

Actually, that’s not entirely true. There is no hard limit on total disk space and monthly transfer. There are however limits on:
Number of files on your account (80,000)
Maximum size of a single file (10MB)
Maximum number of page views on the account (40,000, like Kieran said)
Most of these limits are centered around fair usage restrictions. And if this isn’t enough, you could first upgrade to premium hosting like we offer at XVHOST.
Obviously there is physical limit on the servers which InfinityFree hosting accounts use. It’s not like they have infinite storage however our hosting currently is not so big that we require lots of servers with alot of storage and most of our customers do not host too big websites on our servers either so I can say that there is no noticable limit.
We do not really measure limit however if for example someone made a file sharing website on our hosting (these are illegal) and if alot of files got uploaded to the service we obviously would have to take action.
Like @Kieran said there is small chance that you will get very popular anytime soon so do not worry.
Thank you everyone for your replies.
I assume that the storage cap is up to 800GB, provided that I have 80k files on my site, 10MB for each.
I also wonder that if I store my files for a long time (or even indefinitely), will they be removed? And if I use my site as a personal “Internet pen drive”, does that violate the ToS and will my account be suspended?
(I’m just curious, please don’t take my account down; I really need it.)

Basically, yes
I also wonder that if I store my files for a long time (or even indefinitely), will they be removed?
As long as your account is active, we will never delete any files. Only if your account is suspended for a long time (whether that’s because of a violation or just inactivity.
And if I use my site as a personal “Internet pen drive”, does that violate the ToS and will my account be suspended?
Using your account as a backup storage is not allowed, unfortunately. Services like Dropbox do a much better job at that anyways!
