I made a site using my own domain name but have recently changed the nameservers back to my own registrar (im not sure if this is relevant)
I then activated cloudflare through infinityfree cpanel. I went through documentation to get the ssl working but from what I can see it should just work after 24hrs, without actually doing anything?
ive forced the site to use https through cloudflare but it still doesnt seem to work? Ive also given it well over 30hrs
do i have to use the cloudflare nameservers to get the ssl working?
I saw on the dns section of cloudflare you can add a TXT record to your own domain to confirm domain ownership so have done that but nothing changed?
You need to use our nameservers to get our Cloudflare integration working. Our nameservers are: ns1.byet.org ns2.byet.org ns3.byet.org ns4.byet.org ns5.byet.org
After changing the nameservers to our ones, you will have Cloudflare protection on your website without any hassle.
Well, I will explain the process. If you did follow it, you should be good to go.
You Sign In/Login to Cloudflare, and then “Add site”. There, it will ask for your site’s URL. After you have entered that, it will display the current nameservers of your account, and will ask you to change them with Cloudflare’s.
You will then log into your domain name provider, and change the nameservers, go back to cloudflare, and click on Re-check nameservers. Cloudflare will then add your request to their queue, and notify you when everything is setup. Then, you can go to SSL/TLS section, and most probably, you will have a Universal SSL certificate already issued and active. You can then go down and click on “Always use HTTPS”.
Then, your website should be ready to use Cloudflare SSL.
@Niekon, but if the post’s owner wants your guide to work, the post’s owner needs to disable our Cloudflare cPanel integration on the Control Panel for his domain!
@dripps13, if you don’t want to change the nameservers to Cloudflare ones, and still want Cloudflare SSL enabled, follow my guide.
There is no way to do that, unless you disable the Cloudflare integration from the cPanel, and with your own nameservers follow the Manual Verification (DNS) method on sslforfree.com, and install the certificate from the SSL/TLS section of the cPanel for your domain.
Cloudflare needs to be configured by following the guide @Niekon wrote, and on the SSL option in the “SSL/TLS” page you need to select “Full (Strict)”. After 90 days, you have to repeat the Manual Verification (DNS) method, but with Cloudflare’s DNS page instead of your own nameservers’ one.
Also, you can’t disable “Universal SSL” to only keep Let’s Encrypt SSL as SSL, because you also need to install it on their network, and that is only available on their “Business” plan.
