How can @Admin keep infinityfree running? I mean, I assume most of the userbase is on free tiers, but surely there’s no way such cheap subscriptions can keep infinityfree fully paid for. Or am I wrong and actually lots of users pay for subscriptions?
Would infinityfree still be around if nobody ever bought anything? It’d be cool to have these questions answered!
Admin is a reseller, the actual infrastructure is being run by iFastNet who actually sells the premium plans you are seeing right now and get enough income for the servers.
The forum and the client area also requires money to run but not that much, and can sustain with advertisement and affiliate income.
“As far as I can tell” because I’m obviously not Admin… But he’ll probably say something like this as well.
Free hosting is largely paid for using revenue from the premium upgrades. The number of people who upgrade is very small, but free hosting has been optimized to be very cheap to run per account, so that’s how it works out.
The client area and such also take some money to run, but that’s indeed paid for by the ads.
