Not an error per se… more of a an unexpected situation. Typically Filezilla (FZ) allows overwriting an existing file on the server without issue. YES - the FZ “file exists” setting is set to Overwrite, BUT IT DOESN’T… it skips it…
The log says:
Status: Starting upload of /home/dag/Documents/freepage/2026/07/update.html
Status: Skipping upload of /home/dag/Documents/freepage/2026/07/update.html
Status: File transfer skipped
???
I asked AI and it said:
The real cause: InfinityFree uses a “virtualized” filesystem
InfinityFree runs your site on a read‑write overlay…
I don’t know if that is true or not. I don’t really care. I just want to overwrite an existing file via FZ, any help would be appreciated…

That seems like a FileZilla issue to me, maybe some config is not setup the way you are expecting? You can try a program like WinSCP or CyberDuck as well.
what is weird is filezilla has a setting for “if file exists” and it is set to “overwrite” but it clearly isn’t.
Hmpt. I’ve never had an issue with FZ before. I’ll try another FTP client then. shrug
For the record. gFTP (which is pretty awful looking) worked immediately. So… something ain’t right with FZ…
