Files not transferring into htdocs folder

Hello,

We are having problems loading some files (less than 1MB) to our website tonight.

Filezilla ftp says successful transfer, but files do not appear in the htdocs folder file list after loading.

This appears to happen when files are larger than approx 110,000+ bytes. I have split problem pages into several smaller pages & these loaded successfully as an interim if time-consuming fix. Earlier today I had successfully loaded a 253,030 byte file before this problem occurred.

I have previously experienced similar problem when pages were approaching 1MB limit. Our site is a gig guide site so often our pages are quite large as there can be a month’s worth of info on a page. I have removed some large old pages to ensure website size limit was not exceeded but problem still occurred.

Previously I have had no problems loading pages up to 700,000+bytes so do not know why page size limit has so drastically reduced tonight. At least 3 pages had same issue when load attempted. (displaying - 404 Not Found)

Any help would be appreciated, many thanks.

Thanks for the info, I had read through this but current affected page is:
http://www.fizgig.epizy.com/gigs-2024-11-2.htm

Problem as previously stated is that when transferring htm files above approx 110,000 bytes using Filezilla ftp the file transfers successfully but does not appear in the htdocs folder.

This is a replacement file for the problem page but larger than 110,000 bytes.

Once file has transferred it does not appear in the htdocs folder see below:

Since problem occurred, I have successfully loaded smaller files, but larger files do not load.

This is obviously why I am seeing the 404 page as it clearly is not there.

I have scanned files for malware using mcafee & malwarebytes, both say no malware present.

I am puzzled as to why files (smaller than 1MB, but larger than 110,000 bytes) that I have been successfully loading into htdocs folder to my website for a number of years as I have updated them, are now not loading.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom

I have seen someone else had a similar problem to this yesterday & came up with a workround - “I’ve found a workaround. I change the file extension, upload the file, then change the file extension back to html”

I have just tried this, renaming file as pdf before transfer, transferring successfully and renaming the file now in htdocs folder back to htm.

This worked, but it will be a flaff to do each time I update our gig guide pages!

Wonder if there is an issue affecting some epizy sites?

I also tested it on my hosting account and seems like they’re either testing a new file size limit for HTML and PHP files (not 1 MB anymore but ~110 kBs; that doesn’t even affect JavaScript files) or something else, only affecting these file extensions’ uploads and not renames… In fact I had an HTML file which I renamed changing the extensions during the tests I’ve done and which weighs less than the 1 MB limit, but still more than the new file size limit, and only with JavaScript files did I manage to successfully upload it, despite the file I created just for testing weighed more than 300 kBs. Maybe either renaming the file or, if you don’t want to rename it, splitting it up on different PHP files and including/requiring them on the first one should also work as well, as long as the problem is fixed or the new file size limit for HTML and PHP files is made official, as if it is only the second method will work.

Using workround fix, renaming from htm to pdf & loading and renaming back to htm has enabled me to clear 404 problem - so this page will not have 404 issue now.

Query re file size remains, are htm & html file size being limited below 1M currently stated?

Thanks for trying & confirming this for me JxstErg1

There was a bug in the file size detection causing it to delete files that were well below the 1 MB limit. That was a bug, and it should be fixed now.

Thanks for the feedback, I have just checked using a larger test file & this loaded ok as normal, so looks like problem is fixed. Thanks for providing a great service.
