File Manager Showing No Files

Other Information

Hello InfinityFree Team,

I urgently need help. My File Manager is not displaying any files or folders at all. The interface loads, but the entire directory shows up as completely empty.

This issue is extremely serious for me because my website contains many important and time-sensitive files that I must access immediately.

I have also attached a screenshot showing the empty file manager.

Please check this issue as soon as possible. I urgently need access to my files, and any quick support will be greatly appreciated.

If the file manager doesn’t show any files and folders, then two different reasons come to mind:

  • The file manager has an issue, and it’s not displaying the files you have correctly.
  • The files are actually gone from your hosting account.

If it’s a file manager issue, it might have been fixed already, so you can just check it again later. Or use a different file manager, like our Filestash server (you can login with your hosting account username and password) or a desktop FTP client like FileZilla: How to upload files with FTP

If any of the other file managers show your files, then it’s just a file manager issue, and you can breathe easy.

If the other file managers also don’t show any files, then the files are actually gone. And when I mean gone, I really mean gone. The files you see are the files we have. We don’t make any backups of free hosting accounts. We do our best to protect your files against technical issues, but if any file is every deleted, whether by you (intentionally or by accident) by a script on your website or due to a technical issue on our end, those files are really deleted and cannot be recovered.

I really hope that you can find your files again. But regardless of whether you find them again, let be a lesson to you about the importance of having backups of your own files, and not blindly trusting your hosting provider to keep them safe and accessible at all times.
