im not sure why the Favicon only shows up for HTTP and not HTTPS
Because you served favicon over insecure http, so when you load site over https all insecure http calls has been blocked. All content must be served over https

I recommend that you force all traffic to HTTPS, then change all http:// links in your code to https://
