i have the same problem, i’m using Roundcube Webmail to send emails and i don’t want to use a third party mailing list service, what’s the issue and what can i do to fix it, thank you
Can you please send a copy of your message to https://www.mail-tester.com/ and share the results here? There are many reasons why an email could end up in a spam folder, and mail-tester.com helps to point out many possible issues.
Did you also ask the receiving email provider about this? They are the ones who flag the messages you sent as spam, so they should be able to say why that happens.
Thank you for replying
Here’s the result Spam Test Result
i don’t understand, can you clarify?
the receiving email provider? you mean like Google or Microsoft?
The big text at the top of the page says a lot:
Good stuff. Your email is almost perfect
That means the email you sent from your account is
You say the emails end up in “spam”, right? I assume that means a spam folder in some mailbox? If so, that mailbox is hosted by a certain email provider which receives the email, and that’s the provider operating the spam filters which are rejecting your messages.
As you can see from the mail tester results, your message itself is fine. So I don’t know why your email provider doesn’t like the messages. In fact, I don’t even know which email provider you’re using, so I can’t even check it myself.
Use Google SMTP method if you are using Wordpress.
Gmail SMTP method works only with Google account mails. SMTP on free hosting is open, but they don’t want to use freemail.byetcluster.com as server to it.
I use Gmail SMPT to send my emails from my domain with the domain email. And they do not land in SPAM. I used the plugin called Post SMTP Mailer/Email Log (Link Fixed) and ran it’s setup.
The problem is that without SSL in the Mail server it will always land in the SPAM. Using Gmail SMTP method solves this issue.
Stetting it up is simple, you need to enable 2Auth (without which it won’t work) in a Gmail account and Proceed in creating a token password and then use the user ID of gmail account with the token password to auth Gmail SMTP. Don’t use OAuth Version. Use Login Version of SMTP Login when setting up with POST SMTP Mailer Plugin.
The “Post SMTP Mailer/Email Log” link is not correct. This is the correct link to it.
However, I tried WP Mail SMTP, a plugin that uses SMTP as well, and wanted to say to configure it with the “Other SMTP” function, SMTP server smtp.gmail.com, TLS on, authentication on and your email and password. Note to enable Less Secure Apps and unlock the CAPTCHA requests and not enable Two-Factor Authentication.
As you can see from the mail tester results, your message itself is fine. So I don’t know why your email provider doesn’t like the messages. In fact, I don’t even know which email provider you’re using, so I can’t even check it myself.
This is confusing, I just created my email from control panel ([email protected]) isn’t InfinityFree the email provider? or are you talking about the targeted email addresses whom i sent the message to, if so then it’s Gmail and Outlook E.g. [email protected]/[email protected]
You say the emails end up in “spam”, right? I assume that means a spam folder in some mailbox? If so, that mailbox is hosted by a certain email provider which receives the email, and that’s the provider operating the spam filters which are rejecting your messages.
I sent an email to both Gmail and Outlook accounts, the email sent to Gmail got stuck in Junk folder, and the one sent to Outlook got stuck in Spam folder, and when i sent an email to another email address that i also created from control panel ([email protected]) it went to the inbox folder.
I am assuming that the problem lies in the fact that i’m using a free domain name, consider that .rf.gd domain named websites used to be blocked in social media, maybe it’s the same thing with Emails? this issue turned out to be more complicated than i thought if would be, with a simple mind i want to ask, will i ever face this issue when i will buy a domain name? or in other words will buying a domain name fix this issue for me? dare I say it?
Thanks again for your reply!
SMTP is not available for free hosting accounts, i don’t have that option at the moment.
I’m sorry, I should have clarified this. I was asking about the receiving email provider. That’s the operator of the service you’re sending the message to (not from). If I understand you correctly, you tried this with both Outlook.com and Gmail. They are the receiving email provider, which means they do the spam filtering.
InfinityFree is the sending email provider. But the sending provider can only do so much. All we can do is to make sure the message is well formatted and hope for the best.
First of all: everything that I write below this is just a guess. Gmail and Outlook.com do the spam filtering, and they don’t say how they judge messages. Only Google and Microsoft knows how their respective email services filter spam.
Using the free subdomain might be related. Sadly, free hosting gets a lot of abuse, and many of these abusive sites use free subdomains for convenience. This might result in a bad reputation for these domains, which is why email providers might not trust email coming from these domains.
If so, purchasing your own domain name would probably help. And by that, I really mean purchased domain names (like .com), not free second level domains like .ml or .cf (those probably see similar levels of abuse).
So if you plan to buy a domain name anyways, it wouldn’t hurt to do so now and see if it helps. But again, this is just a guess, nobody can guarantee you any way that messages will always be delivered to an inbox.
i understand, it is as i said before, a complicated issue, but at least now i know that InfinityFree has nothing to do with it, and hopefully buying a domain name will fix it and for good.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, i appreciate it.
