Either your FTP account quota has been exceeded, or the file upload was blocked by security

mp.rf.gd

Right after registering my account at infinityfree.com 2 months ago I uploaded 3 files to my account using filemanager.ai. A few days later and every time since then whenever I try to upload a file with filemanager.ai I keep getting an error message:
Either your FTP account quota has been exceeded, or the file upload was blocked by security.
The files that I was trying to upload (and was unable) were all smaller than 20KB. I was able to work around it by creating a new file or opening an existing one for editing on filemanager.ai and copy-paste the contents since they were all html files. Now I need to upload a tiny jpg (15KB) and it will not work. I just tried to upload test1.txt which has only 12B and I get the same error. I checked my statistics and they are:
Disk Space Usage
5 MB / 5 GB
Bandwidth Usage
0 MB / Unlimited
Inode Usage
8 / 59400
Hits Usage Today
0 / 50000

How can I fix this problem?

I would like to know if there was another answer to this problem.

Try using a desktop FTP client like FileZilla, the filemanager bugs out sometimes.

Thank you @Greenreader9. I appreciate your attempt to give an answer. Unfortunately this is not what I asked. I am definitely not going to install any external software just so I can upload 1 or 2 small files once every few weeks. I just need the simplest web interface to:

  1. upload files (NOT working: [Either your FTP account quota has been exceeded, or the file upload was blocked by security.] and underneath it [6B of 12B The upload failed: Error during FTP upload, file not found: “htdocs/br/test1.txt”.]. I am getting the same file not found message like above whether I try to upload a new file or to overwrite the existing one by upload.)
  2. delete files (at the moment it appears to be working properly)
  3. create new folders and subfolders (at the moment it appears to be working properly)
  4. delete folders (NOT working: [Error during FTP delete directory, file not found: “htdocs/br/test8”.]. It also looks that I can’t rename or move a folder to a different folder, but those are just extra functionalities that I can go around with 3 and 4.)

Every other functionality that I need from file management I can work around with 1-4. In an emergency it might be also useful to be able to:

  1. download a file (it looks that it’s NOT working)

I will try to write a longer response about file management in a few days if I find time. (“filemanager bugs out sometimes” and other things that I read about it on forum.infinityfree.com)

Unfortunaitly, Greenreader gave you the only real answer.

The online file manager is known to be buggy, and isnt likely to be fixed any time soon.

An external FTP client is by far the best way to go by a long shot. While Filezilla is one of the most popular options, there are plenty of other options depending on your os.

I might be wrong, but I’ve got a feeling Mac OS used to come with an ftp client out the box

If you insist on not installing an FTP client, your operating system may have built-in FTP functionality.

For example, in Windows, you can setup an FTP account as a network drive like so: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/map-an-ftp-drive-windows

However, please realize that there is a good reason for FTP clients to exist. A network mount may be slow, unreliable, difficult to setup and hard to troubleshoot if it breaks.

Also, please resist the urge to edit files directly from the FTP mount. I myself have lost many hours of work in the past due to the connection having issues and resulting in the file being erased on the server.

Thanks again to everyone who responded. Always appreciated (even when I didn’t find some answer extremely helpful :slightly_smiling_face:). There is definitely no need to respond to this message. I am just making sure that this topic will not close after 7 days. Will write more when I find time.

There is no need to keep this open, after all we gave your answer already. If you really want FTP working in your browser thou could always search for online FTP clients, but those might not be better/more secure then FileZilla

If you use public computers a lot you can download a portable version of FileZilla at portableapps.com

I’m closing this topic anyway. We’ve all said what there is to say about the issue I think.

And if you do come back later and want to follow up on this, just create a new topic and reference this one, and a moderator can reopen this topic and merge the posts.
