I uploaded a 2MB zip archive, gave it the chmod 644 command, and when I try to download the archive using my subdomain, I can’t download it and get a 404 error.

That link is called mcoptimizer.ZIP, then you’ll have to make sure that it is mcoptimizer.ZIP, not something like mcoptimizer.zip. Also check the spelling.
