Domain .rf.gd showing random placeholder instead of index.html

Dear Support,

Some time ago I have been using your free webhosting services on both infinityfree and aeonfree. Unfortunately, those websites have been deleted due to inactivity.

Now I decided to revisit your service and recreated the deleted accounts adding the original domains as well.

Everything works as expected - except for the following domain:

tauronr.rf.gd

Even though the account shows as “active” and the domain was successfully registered to the respective account, the site does not load.

I accessed the subdirectory using both the online file manager and FTP. The corresponding directories exist. However, the index2.html / index.php do not load when addressing the site through the browser:

tauronr.rf.gd

The site shows up as a typical “domain for sale” placeholder.

I already deleted the domain, deactivated the account and created a new account adding the domain again. To no avail.

I uploaded exactly the same website to two other accounts. Those websites load perfectly.

The issue seems to be with your domain .rf.gd.

Please fix the aforementioned domain so that my website is actually displayed instead of the placeholder and I can use my account normally.

Thank you

Regards,
-Mike

The index2.html is the default landing page when you make a new sub domain you can delete the index2.html and make a index.php instead because the index.php will override the index2.html if your site doesn’t load and was made just recently you might need to wait up to 73 hours for the subdomain dns to update

Works for me

Clear cache or wait for DNS to propagate

Trivial information. But thank you for the effort of replying as this might help others

Thank you for testing my site.

I read about the DNS issue. I just switched from Google DNS to my ISPs DNS service. Let’s see which one refreshes itself faster.

Interestingly though, this DNS issue seemingly only exists for the “rf.gd” domain.

I wonder if anyone has dug deeper into this and can enlighten me as to why this is the case.

Thanks

~Mike

Its possible your ISP is blocking the rf.gd domain and all its subdomains.

If you use a free vpn can you access the domain?

Works fine for me too!
I think it is something “regional”.

That did the trick. I connected through a VPN server in the US and my site loaded without any issues.

But this does not solve my problem as primarily I mysellf need to be able to view my own website.

Now the question arises as to why my ISP would block the entire domain rf.gd? I see no reason why they would do such a thing. Especially since the domain worked flawlessly a couple years ago.

Also, if my ISP had the domain blocked, would I not be seeing some generic “website does not exist” page from my browser rather than the domain parking page I see at the moment:

Any thoughts on this?

~Mike

Yeah, I guess/hope the regional DNS server of my ISP is just taking a bit longer to flush its cache then.

I’ll report back in 72 hours.

So long!

Parking page is due to DNS propagation:

ISP’s have an unfortunate habit of blocking free hosting domains from time to time, mine do it regularly.

To get round this, I would recomend finding a free domain like pp.ua (see below) and add that instead.

Thats true, that parking page does look like its just that the domain hasn’t propogated. So if you wait and see what happens after the 72 hours (since you set up the domain). Its only 3 days, so it’ll pass before you know it

Btw, this is what I meant when I said “website does not exist” page:

When my ISP block a domain, I get a blocked domain page. different ISP’s show different things

Since I had abandoned my website resurrection project years ago these three days won’t drive me crazy, lol

True that. And since this isn’t what I’m seeing it is most likely that DNS propagation is still ongoing, right.

Meanwhile, let’s tackle the next issue:

Here’s my website using an alternate domain I can access:

tauronr.zya.me

Try the pass: guest

This should redirect you to the empty directory /pub.

This does not work. Access to the folder is denied. (403)

How do I resolve this?

Thanks!

~Mike

This mostly happens due to no index page or invalid .htaccess files.

Edit: The 403 page looks pretty wierd, if this is not z custom page something must’ve gone wrong. If this is custom perhaps you should’ve added a doctype tag at the top lol.

The domain tauronr.zya.me is not hosted with us, so I can’t speak about that.

Trying to enter with the password on your site hosted with us, I simply see a 404 page.

What content is supposed to be loaded there? And are the file that are supposed to make that work uploaded successfully?

Thank you for the information.

I uploaded my index.php to the corresponding htdocs folder of my domain. I did remove the .htaccess file in the root directory though as previously, I did not need it to be present in the root directory for the index.php located inside the htdocs folder to load up correctly.

The /pub folder is just an empty directory inside htdocs. Basically:

tauronr.zya.me/pub

Which redirects to into:

htdocs/pub

My code worked flawlessly few years ago both on this site and on another free webhost I was using back then.

So the issue must be related to the account / folder structure. Maybe it is related to the deleted .htaccess file after all?

Any idea on what this specific file does in the root directory?

~Mike

Both domains load for me. After entering the password, the free subdomain shows a 404 page, and the .me domain shows a 403 page.

Sorry, I mixed up the domains. You can edit the link in my post from tauronr.zya.me to tauronr.great-site.net which is hosted with you.

The issue described is exactly the same. The error is “403 Access Denied” though, not 404.

In future, the directory will hold 1-2 .txt files. It is empty right now and the visitor should see an empty directory similar to when accessing an FTP directory.

Since it says “Access denied” I tried to change the corresponding settings. But it seems like I cannot change CHMOD through the online file manager.

The settings for all folders except the htdocs folder is (0755). Interestingly, htdocs is (0751).

P.S: I was positive that aeonfree is just a “clone service” owned by infinityfree. The functionality is identical. Just the site theme is different
