Something is off with the setup here mate.
The DB User if0_xxxxxxx that Cpanel and the main menu try to tell you to use ‘doesn’t have access to the Wordpress DB’
And indeed when you look at the DB User in the wp_config file (of a softlicous install) it is not the one prefixed with if0_xxxxxxx, but another. This seems to be true of all the WP installs. They don’t use that user.
But how would one add that user, or find the DB User that works if it’s not already in a config file?
Really? All of your DB accounts should start with that.
No, it’s only true for softaculous installs.
You can’t normally. However, softaculous apparently have more access to the system so it can create the user.
Then you can’t.
That could mean any number of things. From an incorrect password, to a misspelled database name. I will need more information to give you a more specific answer.
If you would like us to check it, it would help a lot if you could share the username and database name so we can check the permissions.
Softaculous creates separate database users for every installation, which are not prefixed with if0_
.
That should not affect the permissions of your main database user though. If something goes wrong with the database user created by Softaculous, you can always update your config to use the main database user.
Thanks for the responses guys.
You are right the main database user does actually have access. I was gaslighting myself; just thrown off by the other users I saw.
I suppose I don’t need to know the softaculous user if the main one has access.
Cheers.
