cURL Error: Could not resolve host: discord.com

Hi, I am trying to use oauth on my site with discord for logging in and registering but I get the cURL error

cURL Error: Could not resolve host: discord.com

I have made requests to other oauth but it can’t resolve discord, can you please allow it/explain why it might be being blocked?

Hello? Is anyone gonna help me??? It’s been half an hour.

Please be aware that this is a community forum. Meaning that:

  • It’s a forum, not a live chat system. It’s completely normal to have to wait a few hours for a reply.
  • Most people here are community members, not staff. They help when they want and they can, so there is no guarantee that they will respond within any specific time frame.

As you can see by the many other topics on here, people do get replies within a few hours usually, but nothing is guaranteed.

Access to the Discord APIs was blocked due to rampant abuse. The overwhelming majority of accounts using it were using it for spam bots and the like, so we had to take drastic action.

And we don’t do special requests, so we cannot enable it just for you. I’m not even sure if that’s technically possible at all.

Welcome to the forum.

so honestly, no, there isn’t a work around. or perhaps the more accurate statement, the work around would be to use a different login service like google login (not sure if that works, I’ve not tried it, just using it as an example

There is no way to make logging in with Discord work on free hosting.

Offering social logins with other services is indeed an alternative. And please also be aware that this restriction is not present on premium hosting.

If you really want the discord.com as a login method, you can use some other services like render.com to make a portal to receive the user’s account info and feed it back to your original website.
