Copyright issues while building a website(templates)?

While I was viewing all free starter templates on wordpress,I thought about this: I am not sure if I am wrong, but it seemed to me that at least some of the templates show on them the images and names of some other people who also have their own personal websites. I suppose they, previously have used these same free templates. My question: if you select any template in which the image and name of other professional is shown, could this be any legal copyright or whatever issue, while you are building your website, if this work takes you some days while you personalize it and delete all previous pictures, names and addresses if in the meanwhile all these personal contents are online and anyone can see them through your own personal link ? Thanks

Those “free starter templates” doesn’t come from us or even WordPress. It’s more of some shenanigans that comes from the script installer Softaculous.

To be clear, when you use those templates, they won’t come with those images and other contents. They come in a blank state so you can build a website on it. Those contents come in the form of “demo contents” which if you would like to, you can install them separately.

Sorry, I didn´t understand completely. Some of the templates I could see were not in a blank state. Are these ones what I am referring to. I understand that they should be all in a blank state, but at least it seems to me that some are not. Thanks,

While yes, I tried to answer your question, this part is way more important:

This means that we are not responsible for those templates. We didn’t make them, WordPress didn’t make them, the respective makers did.

You need to look up their website or contact them if you have any copyright inquiries.

From my understanding these should be fine to use but we have absolutely no authority in this matter.

If you install a theme and it has names and pictures and whatnot in them, you can safely assume that the pictures are just stock photography showing some model, and the names and other details are fake.

Templates typically come with demo content to show what the website could look like, and give you a foundation to build the website on. If they are distributing that content along with the template, you should be able to assume that you can use the demo content under the same license as the template itself.

If they didn’t want you to have the demo content on your website, they wouldn’t give you the content like that.
