I just discovered that my website has at least one cookie. I know that I have not placed any, but cookieserve(.)com tells me:
Cookie: __test
Description: No description
Duration: 6 hours
Type: Other
And privacytracker(.)app reports:
Cookies Detected:
All cookies found on your website
_session
Session management for website functionality
necessary
Data Being Collected
Types of personal information gathered:
IP Address
Browser Information
Device Information
Can you please give me the complete list, description and purpose of cookies used by InfinityFree / i FastNet, so that I can put a valid cookie/privacy statement on my website.
And to my knowledge, if you are using PHP, there is also this cookie:
NAME: PHPSESSID
PURPOSE: “PHP Session ID - Server ID”
I use a banner like this to disclose my purpose for cookies:
Essential Cookies Only: (My site) uses only essential cookies required for functionality - browser verification and session management. We don’t use tracking, advertising, or personalization cookies. Your privacy is protected.
I am human, while I strive to provide the most accurate information, I can’t guarantee the validity of information.
The cookieserve report is the cookie all free InfinityFree sites use. It does have a purpose as stated above. If you host a site here with us, then it will have one also. If you want to learn more info how IF handles data, you can also check Privacy Policy - InfinityFree .
On the second report, I’m doubtful about it. The cookie by the second site does not appear on my browser but the report stated otherwise. Run a test from another analyzer, same target site but that named cookie did not appear. I’m willing to be proven wrong but I would question the accuracy of an outdated sketchy site, does not explain how it works, filed with internal links 404s, does not publish its own privacy statement, and failed its own test.
The only mandatory cookie we place on browsers is the __test cookie, which @Jri-Creator has already covered. Any other cookie on your website is created as a result of the code on your website.
As for the _session cookie, I don’t know what that is, because it’s not from us.
We may also collect and store server access logs, which includes IP addresses, requested URLs and user agent strings (which contain device and browser information). This is extremely common and virtually every website collects this data. This data is collected to monitor server performance and security.
