maybe you are no longer the owner of the domain because it has expired and Godaddy has taken it over and is now running advertisements

I think it’s fantastic that you’ve taken so much trouble to answer my questions including images - I’m truly grateful. I have absolutely no idea what you have said. Do you have any information about steps I could take to get my site working again? Thx.

go to where you bought the domain

check, maybe it is necessary to pay (if it has not expired and handed over to someone else)

or you just need to click a button
if it is set to take money from your card automatically (auto-renew)
or something else (maybe confirm an email address or some other information)

but NS from “your” domain no longer point to this hosting - click me

and here you can see that the changes took place approximately 5 days ago…
where you see Wildcard UK - it is this hosting (ex value)

Thanks for the feedback
If it’s not a private matter, could you tell us exactly what the problem was so that we can give better answers to future users if there are cases with symptoms like yours?

Yes - of course. I’m not sure - I had a standing order to pay for my domain name. It looks like the expiry date changed and so I needed to set up the payment again. To be honest, I’m not sure. After I re-established the payment the site started working.

What probably happened is that your domain name expired because it wasn’t paid on time, throwing it into the grace period where only you can register that domain name. When you registered it again, the new registration date became the new expiration date for next year.

Thanks :+1:
I’m surprised you didn’t get any warning email
because leaving the domain to chance without receiving at least 3 warning emails is a bit irresponsible on their part.

Good that you noticed the problem and that only 5 days have passed…
If it happened over the summer and you were on vacation or whatever - who knows how it would have ended.

It’s not just “irresponsible”, not sending the reminders would be an active violation of their responsibilities as registrars as determined by ICANN. If that were really the case, they would be at risk for having their registrar contract revoked.

That said, these reminders are typically sent to the domain’s registrar email address. So please double check that the domain contact email is still correct.
