Conflicting SSL Status – Request for Clarification

Dear InfinityFree Support,

I hope you’re doing well.

I recently received an email from ZeroSSL informing me that my SSL certificate will expire in 14 days. This certificate was manually installed by me earlier using the “SSL/TLS” section in the control panel.

To confirm its status, I opened the SSL/TLS section and clicked on “Configure” for my subdomain. I noticed a red notice saying:

“This appears to be a subdomain. Subdomains have SSL automatically enabled. To access, please use https://[your-subdomain].infy.uk”

However, when I checked the SSL certificate directly in my browser (by clicking the padlock icon), it shows that the currently active certificate is still issued by ZeroSSL, not by InfinityFree or Let’s Encrypt.

This raises two concerns:

  1. Why is the system showing a message that SSL is automatically enabled, when in fact it’s not the InfinityFree-issued certificate that is active?
  2. Should I renew the ZeroSSL certificate manually now, or will the InfinityFree automatic SSL take over once it expires?

I’d appreciate it if you could please confirm:

  • Whether InfinityFree’s automatic SSL is active or not.
  • What steps I should follow to ensure uninterrupted HTTPS access after the current ZeroSSL certificate expires.

Thank you for your time and support.

Best regards,
Muhammad Nabeel

Thank you, your explanation was really helpful. Since my website is on an InfinityFree subdomain, I understand that I don’t need to manually install or renew SSL anymore. I’m now using the site with https:// and everything is working fine. Thanks again!
