Concerns with adding auto-refresh to JriMail

For some reason, placing this link back out into the world got me temporarily suspended with such a high hits counter that I'm not going to be able to recover my account!!!

I want to add a 20-minute auto refresh to JriMail. It would work like this:

For as long as the user’s browser is open and the JriMail tab is in the background, JriMail would refresh itself every 20 minutes and make a sound if a new message was received.

If I decide to implement this into JriMail, would I be breaking the ToS? Would that convert my JriMail system into a live chat script? I’m not trying to violate any terms of service things. That’s why I’m asking before I perform any actions related to implementing this.

More or less you’ll hit the hits limit with that, so I don’t recommend it.

And in its core it’s a live chat-like system, so there’s a risk.

Refreshing once every 20 minutes should be fine, it’s a very long interval, so it doesn’t really count as live chat.

That said, depending on how many users have the site open in a tab, it can result in higher hits usage. So please keep an eye on your usage.
