Working on research for a potential project. I subscribed to Google News alerts, but it is like I’m getting tens, maybe even a hundred or more, of stories that are basically the same. Anyone know of any services that either only deliver more unique stories, or conceptual aggregation of stories?
I personally just follow one news outlet which I know and trust. It avoids a lot of the duplicate messaging. And instead of your news feed being curated by an algorithm programmed to keep you engaged, the feed of articles I get is curated by a head editor of a news agency, avoiding algorithmic echo chambers.
As for aggregating news sources, there is one service I’ve seen advertised a lot on YouTube but conceptually seems like a great idea: Ground News. They aggregate stories from different outlets together, and provide additional overview data about how the story is covered and framed by different outlets with different political leanings. To be clear, I’ve never actually tried it, but it seems like a great way to do unbiased news aggregation.
