What CNAME do you need to be created? And what’s stopping you from adding it yourself?

The URLs you’ve shared look like the URLs from the parking service we use for domains that are not in use. Unused subdomains of your domain will point here as well, but this won’t affect websites that you have already set up.

And if you’re created a CNAME record already but still see this error, then please note that any DNS changes can take up to 72 hours to be visible everywhere: When will my domain name start working

Hostgator.in gave me links and they told me to your hosting provider (infinityfree.net) will create the cname for me. You can create ‘dangerousmother’ as the cname

I’m sorry, but again:

Seeing how your domain is using our nameservers, HostGator rightfully pointed you to us, because you need to add the CNAME record to our nameservers.

But that doesn’t mean that you need to contact us to create it for you. Or that we’d have any clue as to what CNAME record you are looking to add.

That’s just a word. A CNAME record needs more than a word.

Every CNAME record has a source hostname (e.g. example.dangerousmother.com) and a target hostname (e.g. something.example.net).

What’s the source and destination of the CNAME record you are looking to add?

Just now I added the cname. After I clicked on ‘Add’. I got the message ‘You don’t have permission to access /panel/modules-new/cnamerecords/add.php on this server’

Most likely, that means the exact values you entered got caught by a security filter on the control panel.

Can you please tell us exactly what you entered in each of the three fields?

Those are not CNAME records. If you are trying to install an SSL certificate from the client area you can use the one-click button to install the required record(s).

The second one is a Sectigo domain verification domain. Which tells me you’re trying to verify your domain to get an SSL certificate.

If so, the source name is usually an underscore, followed by 32 letters and numbers (like _5a38393070b593e6c82b4f89e649fb9c), pointing to a subdomain of sectigo.com, which in your case appears to be f1757a8ee32208cba6108d5801a375f6.23f5821ac3906b4a67a84f2f6d78c4a3.792200772.sectigo.com.

Please go to your SSL provider and check the correct source name to use. If you’re not absolutely sure, please take a screenshot and share it here so we can check it for you.

Then, in our panel, make sure to enter the source subdomain in the Record Name field, select the domain from the list, and enter f1757a8ee32208cba6108d5801a375f6.23f5821ac3906b4a67a84f2f6d78c4a3.792200772.sectigo.com in the Destination field.

Please make sure to enter everything exactly as shown. Do not add http:// to it, or any slashes or colons. CNAME records point to a domain name, not a website URL.

Hostgator.in gave me this info:

Allow 3-4 hours to complete propagation of record.

Post which SSL verification can be completed and SSL will be issued.

Once you get the SSL certificate you can install the same at your hosting end to get the Https

Where will SSL verification get posted ?

and Infinityfree will install the SSL certificate for my website domain ?

No idea, as you did not state

No, you have to do it yourself

All these headaches could have been avoided, if you had used the free SSL tool from free hosting in the first place…

With Hostgator. They will tell you which records you need to add to verify your domain for the SSL certificate.

This is why we cannot just set up the CNAME for you: we have no idea what needs to be set up.

Can you please share a screenshot of the setup instructions from Hostgator?

Agreed. We can get you an SSL certificate completely free, and automate most of the steps you need to do to get it.

You paid money for an SSL certificate, but because you now have to coordinate the validation between Hostgator’s SSL certificate and our DNS, it’s a lot more complicated.

Hostgator servers are not detecting the cname. Now it is 7 days that I purchased the SSL. Today I will cancel the SSL there and ask for refund. Then I can Free SSL certificate for my website from infinityfree, right ?

Since you have a custom domain, this may be more suitable for you
