Can you be more specific please? Free SSL from where? If it’s a place that uses Let’s Encrypt, then it won’t work on InfinityFree. I have been told that https://freessl.space/ works (though I haven’t tried it). Also, if the domain you want SSL on is a TLD you own (and not one of the fres sub domains from here) than yog can also get free SSL protection by using CloudFlare.
Thanks! It works!!
I finally can use SSL on free .rf.gd subdomain, but the new SSL feature in client area can’t even do this!
However I need to update it every 90 days.
@Alizor Is it really free forever?
As far as I understand it, it isn’t from Let’s Encrypt. But from some SSL companies that offering their trial SSL via that site generator.
Trial only for the first 90 days. You are only given to reissue the certificate unlimitedly for free.
Note: reissue is not renewal
A reissue can be done if you’ve lost your private key, or your server details have changed. A reissue will not extend the validity period of your certificate.
You are only given to reissue the certificate unlimitedly for free.
According to their website, you are right.
According to my site SSL details, it only valid for 3 months.
But according to my email:
Your GoGetSSL Unlimited Trial SSL for example.rf.gd is attached!
Is it free forever? It says “Unlimited” and can reissue!
Also they gave me this:
Let’s Encrypt has very strict limits on how many certificates can be issued for a domain. If we would offer SSL for subdomains as a feature to all people, a few people would be able to get a certificate and many others would get errors because the maximum number of certificates was already hit.
I don’t know about GoGetSSL and what kind of limits they have. Feel free to try it for yourself, but don’t be surprised if it breaks in some way. I just don’t feel comfortable offering a feature I know is likely to break.
Also, the fact that you can install your own SSL certificate on a subdomain is an unintended consequence of how the hosting platform API works. It’s technically a bug, so it may be “fixed” without warning, and cause your SSL certificate to be deleted without any chance to upload it again.
So again, feel free to use it if it works for you. But know that we don’t officially support it, and it may break at any time without a fix.
Can you please be a LOT more specific? Where are you getting stuck? What do you see?
