I used to have aslanis.rf.gd but wanted to change domain to alexharperreviews.page.gd. I deleted the first domain and created the second one but cannot figure out how to link it to the website files i had pointing to the first domain. In fact, I cannot see those files in FTP
If the new domain name is assigned to the same hosting account, you can very easily move the website files to the new location, like so:
Deleting a domain name from an account does not delete the corresponding website files. If the website files are gone, then it means something else must have happened to them.
But if the files are gone, then they are gone. We don’t create backups of free hosting accounts, so there is no way to roll back the state of your files to bring the website back.
Just check the files of each account in the file manager or an FTP client of your choice and navigate through the folders. It’s all pretty straight forward.
But instead of searching for file you may not have, do you recall if you did anything else that might have affected your website files around the time you removed the domain? Did you already try some approach to try and move the website to your new domain (which may have gone wrong)?
You cannot freely choose which folder a domain name is linked to on our hosting, that’s only available on premium hosting. But even if you could, then you’d still need to 1) have the files in the first place (which might not be the case) and 2) know in which folder they are.
UPDATE: I deleted the domain but found the files inside a folder named ‘htdocs’. Since I had recreated the same domain, i just used them inside the aslanis.rf.gd folder and the website now works fine! Backing up asap!
