I use cPanel and InfinityFree. My previous domain with InfinityFree expired from 30 days of inactivity. I have re-registered the same domain name, but the IP is different. How do I change the IP address of the domain in cPanel? Googling doesn’t help me. Can someone give me a straightforward answer?
You cannot, but may I ask why you need to do so? If whatever you’re trying to do is possible on InfinityFree, there will be an alternative way to do it.
There is no way to change your IP address, it is assigned to you from one of the many servers available when you create an account
I am curious as to why you would want to change your IP address ?
Every account is assigned to a certain IP address by our system. This is primarily done for capacity planning. You cannot choose which IP address the hosting account is assigned to or change it afterward.
If your domain name is using our nameservers, those will have been updated automatically with the new IP address. If you don’t see it yet, that’s probably just DNS caching.
If you are not using our nameservers, you should update your DNS settings with the new domain name.
Sorry, I’m just very confused by all this. I was using InfinityFree’s free plan, then I purchased the upgrade. Everything synced together just fine without me needing to do anything. Then my domain on InfinityFree lapsed and nothing worked. I’m trying to figure this all out.
Also, how do I give CORS access? I’m trying to use Ruffle (Flash emulator). I’ve got it working on my laptop (Chrome) but when trying to access it on an Ipad ,it gives the unable to fetch message. Could someone please help with that?
Oh I forgot to mention in my original post, the reason for the IP change was because the autoSSL thing. But maybe that will resolve on its own?
Ah, that is indeed a problem. The domain should have migrated to your new account and not been closed from inactivity. You’ll want to take this up with iFastNet’s customer support so they can resolve this from their end.
Once you’ve migrated your site to the new hosting account on iFastNet, your hosting account on InfinityFree becomes unrelated. Its IP address shouldn’t matter for SSL functionality.
Thanks! I’ll see what they can do.
Also I figured out the CORS thing.
