i cannot find any way to change my ftp password in cpanel

i can change my password at Login to your account - InfinityFree client area profile which says it will also change my ftp and mysql passwords to match but it doesnt happen, the ftp password stays the same

thanks

You cannot change the FTP password in the cPanel; you should change it from the Client Area. If the request of changing the password can’t be done, please disable your ad blocker.

You can change the FTP password of a hosting account by going to that URL, click the account which you would like to edit and then go to Account Settings. From there, you can change the hosting account password, which also changes the FTP password and database password.

Note that this password may not be the same as your client area password.

yes this is what I tried but my ftp password remains the same (the randomly generated one)

i dont understand the difference between my infinity free login password vs client area password. its confusing sorry

I think max is 15 chars
and no special chars
so check if there is a error message when generating a new password

There are two main types of passwords, the client area password and hosting account password.

The client area password is used for:

The client area password can be changed by:

  1. Logging in to app.infinityfree.net.
  2. Click Client Area Profile in the main menu.
  3. Click the Edit Profile button.
  4. Scroll down to the Client Area Password panel and fill in the form.

Alternatively, you can reset this password through the client area password reset form: https://app.infinityfree.net/password/reset

The hosting account password is used for:

The hosting account password can be changed by:

  1. Logging in to app.infinityfree.net.
  2. Click the All Accounts link in the sidebar.
  3. Click the hosting account for which you would like to set the password.
  4. Click the Account Settings button.
  5. Scroll down to the Hosting Account Password section and follow the instructions.

Does this clarify which password you need to change and how you need to change it?
