Can you remove all contents from a free template?

Hello. If you install a free theme, and a free starter template, can personalize by removing absolutely all contents of these theme/templates, including copyright years and name, etc, or do youu have to give credit to the developers? thanks

As described in your last topic, these “free starter templates” have nothing to do with us nor WordPress, so you won’t get an accurate answer here.

But I would say that these are free to use with no copyright issues.

It depends on the license terms of the specific theme/template used. Some may require attribution, some do not. You have to check the theme you’re using for details.

The “attribution” references usually look more like “Powered by XYZ” or something like that. And if the theme creator requires it, they usually take steps to avoid making it very easy to remove.

It different from the copyright name and year. You’re creating the site, so you have copyright to it, even if you’re using a third party theme.

But most of this is just speculation. I don’t know which theme you’re using, I definitely didn’t create that team, and I’m not your legal counsel. If you want to be certain, you should ask a lawyer.
