We’re all very well aware that many people on free hosting are using these free subdomains, and some are even hosting their website with it on premium hosting, so we’ll do whatever we can to ensure the continued operation of these subdomains for as long as we can. Which obviously includes renewing all subdomains in time.
Sometimes the domains get taken down and it can take some time to get resolved. Usually this is no more than a few days, but with the 000.pe domain, it took the better part of a year to get resolved.
If a domain name is taken down, then all subdomains on it will go down as well.
Also, sometimes we disable registration of new subdomains on some domains. Domains like epizy.com, freesite.online and 000.pe were all available as options in the past, but have been removed, which is usually because the domain’s registry is being difficult. But this doesn’t affect existing subdomains.
You can easily add more subdomains to your account. You can do so right now or only do it if the current subdomain stops working.
However, you have to think about what that “replace” actually looks like. Normally, when moving domain names, you would redirect your old domain to your new one. But if the old domain name is down entirely, then you cannot setup any redirect on it either.
Also, depending on the particular issue, the effort required to setup a new subdomain and move your website to it might take more time than the actual downtime itself, so you’d just be spending a lot of effort for no reason.
So if the free.nf domain were to really go down, then it would be very hard to move to a different domain.
Ultimately, this is just some risk you’re taking by using a free subdomain. If you don’t want to take that risk, your best option is to register a domain name yourself, avoiding the noisy neighbor effect entirely.
