I’ve spent the last few days looking at different CMS packages and ultimately decided to go with October. I set up a domain and created an infinityfree account to try it out but I am having trouble with it.
First I tried the October installer, set up a database and gave the info to the installer and let it do its thing. Eventually I ended up with this error:
Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes
I decided to then try with the softaculous installer, but no luck there either.

No. My question is can I use October? Perhaps there is something I need to do before the install which I am unaware of. Or maybe it is just not possible.
Did you actually read the topics in the search results?
There are other CMS which return the error, but the cause is always the same. The error means that your website requires the InnoDB storage engine for MySQL, but that’s not available on free hosting.
