I’m wondering if I can upload .apk files, the terms state no but can i redict them to a for example Google drive link? Or can i put it in a .zip file?
Linking to an APK file on a file sharing site is OK, as long as the app is safe and legal.
If the .apk file is larger than 10 MB, you will have to use external file sharing, because there is a 10 MB file size limit on our hosting.
If you look at the specific wording of the terms:
- Contains or installs .exe, .apk, .dmg, .cmd, .com, .bat, .osx, .msi, .app files;
It means that your site cannot contain .apk files. It doesn’t matter if you upload the .apk file as-is or put it in an archive.
However, this policy is not actively being enforced, so for now you’ll be fine if you upload the .apk file in any format. But I cannot guarantee that this will not enforce this in the future, so you could choose to use a file sharing site to be safe.
Hi Peterr,
Sure, but if you’re serious about your app in the long run, put it on Google Play store so people cannot just take your app, resign the package and mass distribute for malicious activities using your app’s name, as you have the priority if you put it exclusively on Google Play first.
If it’s just a one-time thing or assignement for school, then nvm, just link to it.
Cheers!
