Hello, my WordPress site https://sdtalk.gt.tc (InfinityFree free subdomain) returns an InfinityFree 403 page (errors.infinityfree.net/errors/403/) only for https://sdtalk.gt.tc/chat/. This happens for all visitors, logged in and logged out, on multiple networks and browsers. wp-admin works, the homepage loads, and /login/ loads when logged out. I verified my theme and plugin do not return 403 for any page, the SSL certificate is valid, and the Chat page exists, is published, and has the correct template and content. Could you please check why this URL is blocked at the server level and how to unblock it? Thank you.
Welcome to the InfinityFree community forum! Good to have you here.
Most people answering here are volunteers. They’re often the fastest source of help. Admin (the only staff member) checks in about once a day for issues on our end.
Volunteers can’t see your account or website. Share what you actually see, like error messages and what happens when you try something. That’s more useful than your theory of what’s wrong.
AI tools often get InfinityFree wrong. If a volunteer’s advice differs from what an AI told you, please try the volunteer’s suggestion first.
Solving an issue is a joint effort. Try the suggestions you get and report back what happened.
Beep boop, I’m a bot! I dug through the forum to get you started. I sometimes get things wrong though, so do with this what you will until a human has a look.
The URL itself is almost certainly the cause. Our knowledge base lists “chat” as a blocked keyword in URLs, because live chat scripts constantly refresh pages and create excessive server load. A path like /chat/ gets the InfinityFree 403 page before WordPress sees the request. That’s why your theme and plugin checks found nothing, and why only that one page fails.
The fix is to change the page’s permalink (slug) in WordPress to something without “chat” in it, like /talk/ or /messages/. The article suggests these as replacements:
The same article says renaming doesn’t change the rules. Hosting live chat scripts is still prohibited. Is the Chat page a live chat feature, or an ordinary page, like a forum or contact page, that happens to be called “chat”? If it’s a live chat, renaming the URL won’t make it allowed.
Follow-up after the earlier /chat/ keyword fix: I changed the page slug to /talk/, but the chat still does not load.
I checked in File Manager and confirmed the files exist on the server at htdocs/wp-content/plugins/sdtalk-chat/assets/:
- sdtalk-chat.js (46.96 KB)
- sdtalk-chat.css (12.64 KB)
The SDTalk Chat plugin v1.0.0 is Active, and the plugin’s own code writes no .htaccess or deny rule. I also found no .htaccess file in sdtalk-chat/ or in assets/.
However, both of these return the InfinityFree 403 page:
Other plugins’ assets also load normally. As a result, https://sdtalk.gt.tc/talk/ stays stuck on ‘Loading SDTalk chat…’.
Could you please tell me what host rule blocks this assets path (is it still a keyword/content rule, a file-type rule, or something else), and how I can allow these two plugin files? Thank you.
Everything that have “chat” in their name will be blocked. And when we say everything we mean everything, including sdtalk-chat.js and sdtalk-chat.css. Or really everything inside /wp-content/plugins/sdtalk-chat/.
Unfortunately judging from the filenames what are you trying to achieve may not be allowed on free hosting.
