I remember we learned C in third year and C++ in fourth year… But it’s better to use C++ because it simplifies some things.

what are you writing that it is not able to compile?
I would rather buy a desktop
because for the money you pay for a laptop, you can have a stronger desktop + large monitor
and of course, upgrade the hardware while with a laptop it is not easy
