Not multiple websites in one server, but one website on multiple servers.

Multiple websites in one server is just… shared hosting?

Look, you started this by saying my skill sucks. Now it turns out we’re operating with completely different standards and requirements.

Yes, people pay for software, especially when running legitimate businesses handling customer data and payments. That’s not unusual.

Though I’m genuinely curious: you’re paying for a cPanel license but not for WHMCS? That’s an interesting choice.

Docker (and containers in general) provide immutability, reproducibility, and isolation. When I update my application, I build a new container with the exact same configuration every time. If I want to move to a different server, I just run the same container there. No manual changes to account for, no hidden differences that pop up at the worst time. That’s why.

So if that server were to break down, how quickly are you able to get your WHMCS installation up and running again? And how confident are you that you won’t make mistakes during the many manual steps needed to set up cPanel, configure the account, reinstall WHMCS and restore your backup?

If you’re fine with some risk of extended downtime (because your server is reliable enough and the installation is simple enough), then that setup is totally fine for your needs.

I aim for lower recovery time than that. That’s not “making stuff complicated for no reason.” It’s me trying to make my WHMCS setup run with the same level of reliability as everything else I operate. And WHMCS makes that harder than it needs to be by design. Just because you don’t need that level of automation doesn’t mean nobody does.

Will cPanel support help you with WHMCS issues? And will WHMCS support help you when you’re using an unlicensed version with decrypted source code?

It’s not about saving money. My setup has less system overhead (no control panel, mail server, FTP server, DNS server, etc.), it’s faster to set up, easier to reproduce, easier to optimize for speed and security, and has a smaller attack surface. Yes, there’s upfront learning involved, but the ongoing maintenance is simpler because there are fewer moving parts.

The fact that your solution to the “black box” problem is to crack the software kind of proves my point about it being a black box, doesn’t it?

Being able to inspect source code helps when extending software because not all functionality is exposed through addon APIs, and documentation often has gaps. Understanding how the core system works makes it easier to build reliable integrations.

We’re just operating on a very different level. Just because it’s easy to setup on a web hosting account doesn’t mean that it’s easy to use in every other setup too.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

looks good, but I doubt it would be hard to get JS data to update the time & date.

nevermind, it seems you settled with the full 67 vibe.

Is something wrong? Why isn’t your speed higher?

In your opinion, which is the best AI chat bot? Gemini, Co-Pilot, Grok, MetaAI, Leo AI, ChatGPT, something else?

It depends on your use case. For coding, it will be Claude. For research, Perplexity will be preferred. Manus AI will be the choice for creating website…every person will have their own preferences

Personally I like Einstein, which is a customised openai (chat gpt) model in Salesforce. But unless you run your own Salesforce environment, that’s not an option for most people

Can I get the circumcised version of Einstein? Was he?

Sorry, you said “customised”.

I just dug up a portable SSD so I backed up the data in order to (attempt to) put a portable Linux on it

Strangely, when I deleted the NTFS partition, suddenly Dolphin detects “Linux Mint 21 Cinnamon 64-bit” and there’s actual data on it. Checked the block device and it is indeed coming from the SSD

I do remember flashing Linux Mint install image onto it but just wow

And why

for devs or just using?

If there’s anything I learnt from using the flatpak version of Bottles (Fancy frontend for wine and is supposedly the recommended version) is that this app is TRASH.

Just use wine will do if you do not need many different wine versions

Forgot to say (or did I) two days ago (for me, January 13th to be precise) marks the final day for Windows Server 2008 (R2) so yeah, this is when we actually say goodbye to the Windows Vista/7 codebase

May Windows Vista/7 always be remembered
